Alzheimer's in the Workplace

Presented by Lucia Coopersmith, Community Educator, Alzheimer's Association and Kelsey Williams, Program Manager, Alzheimer's Association

Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, which is an umbrella term for a person's changes in memory, thinking, or reasoning. It is the 7th leading cause of death in Tennessee and kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Currently 120,000 Tennesseans are living with Alzheimer's, and an estimated 361,000 family members and friends serve as their unpaid caregivers. With six in 10 of these caregivers working in the last year, about 1 in 32 Tennesseans is an employed dementia caregiver. This program will cover the basics of Alzheimer's disease, the impact Alzheimer’s has on caregivers in the workplace, and available support resources.

Attendees will:

1) Understand the basics of Alzheimer's disease
2) Learn about the impact Alzheimer's has on caregivers in the workplace
3) Identify support resources

Registration: This event is free to attend, but registration is required.
